Lewes Festival of Song
Strings in the earth and air
Ensemble Reza are delighted to have been asked to take part in this exciting festival. We will collaborate with three young singers on the brink of their careers from the Royal College of Music in a programme of Holst, Vaughan Williams, Barber, Rebecca Clarke and Butterworth, including Dover Beach and On Wenlock Edge.
The weekend is full of variety: strings make a halo of sound in well-loved early twentieth century British repertoire; a Kathleen Ferrier finalist sings with a pianist with a string of awards to his name in a fascinating and unusual French/English programme: a Russian recital full of light as well as death and dark: a deliciously varied à cappella afternoon concert, and a bath of Mediterranean warmth alternating with English/American cool in the last recital.
Highlights include Barber's Dover Beach, On Wenlock Edge, Ravel's songs to Greek poetry, gorgeous Rachmaninov, madrigals, Britten's Flower Songs for choir, and De Falla's Seven Spanish Songs .For more information about the festival visit: Lewes Tourist Information Centre Tel: 01273 483448 or visit The Lewes Festival of Song Facebook page.
