Strictly Tango!

Saturday night at the Hawth was tango-tastic!

The Reza sextet, led by Rose Hinton, showcased its extraordinarily versatile musicianship and immediately transported the audience to a smoky bar in South America.

Rose opened the programme with an incredibly virtuosic Sonata for solo violin by Bach. We were also treated to lyrical cello tunes, menacing bass lines and pulsing rhythmic pizazz throughout!

Piazzolla was the most performed composer of the night - the movements of his Four Seasons were interspersed through the programme - and there was passion a’plenty. By contrast, there were also plenty of reflective moments, with the upper strings often ending on beautiful, quiet harmonics.

One the many highlights of the evening was when Laetitia sang the Greek melody in ‘If you came for a brief moment only’. She performed with such confidence and sang with soul. A truly natural performer.

We look forward to returning to the Hawth on February 14th for an evening of romance.
